The January Edit

This year, I decided that every month, I was going to share with you 5 items that I've been loving and using non-stop, from beauty, to tech, to travel necessities, to a fashion piece, everything that integrated my routine in January. 

Cette année, j'ai décidé qu'à chaque mois, j'allais vous partager 5 items que j'ai apprécie et que j'utilise sans arrêt, un petit mélange de produits de beauté, de technologie, des nécessités voyages et même un pièce mode, tout ce qui intègre ma petite routine du mois de janvier. 

1. Armani Because It's You perfume

A couple of months ago, Armani spoiled the boyfriend and I with their new scent and we haven't stopped wearing it since. The perfumes have an enticing very mysterious and sexy smell. The perfumes have a fruity floral scent with a hint of something vanilla which I've noticed are some of my favourites and which smell absolutely sexy on a man.

Il y a quelques mois, Armani nous a gâté avec leur nouveau parfum et nous n'avons pas cessé de le porter depuis. Ces parfums ont une odeur très mystérieuse et sexy. Ils ont un parfum floral et fruité avec un soupçon de vanille ce qui m'a fait que j'ai remarqué que ce sont mes notes préférées pour un parfum et bonus, sentent absolument sexy sur un homme.

2. Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Microfinishing Loose Powder

This is a makeup step that is very much forgotten by many but trust me when I say it makes a great difference in your makeup wear. I apply this Microfinishing loose powder when my makeup is done and it gives a photo-ready finish and locks everything in. I also noticed that it prevents my concealer from cracking during the day and no ghost face for photography.

Voici une étape de maquillage qui est souvent négligée par beaucoup, mais croyez-moi quand je vous dis que cela fait une grande différence quant à l'apparence de votre maquillage. J'applique cette poudre une fois mon maquillage terminé et il donne une finition prête à photographier. J'ai également remarqué que cela empêche mon anti-cernes de se briser pendant la journée et aucun visage fantôme pour la photographie.

3. Vichy Idéalia Gel Cream

Changing face creams for me is a big time, I have trust issues lol. I always need something that is not oily as my t-zone tends to oil up during the day but I also need to make sure that my face is moisturized and plump. The Vichy Idéalia Gel Cream was my life saver when I came back from Mexico as it really hydrates my skin but does not leave a dewy look and acts like a perfect makeup base. I don't wear foundation, only concealer, so I need something that makes my skin look good.

Changer de crèmes pour le visage est une grande étape pour moi, j'ai de la difficulté à faire confiance à une crème, lol. J'ai toujours besoin d'une crème qui n'est pas grasse, qui va bien hydrater mon visage, mais sans accumulation sur ma zone T durant la journée. La crème Idéalia de Vichy a sauvé mon visage lorsque je suis revenue du Mexique, car elle hydrate vraiment ma peau, s'imbibe très bien et agit comme une super bonne base de maquillage. Sur une base régulière, je ne porte pas de fond de teint, seulement un cache-cernes, alors j'ai besoin d'un produit qui va me donner une belle mine. 

4. Urban Decay Rehab Makeup Prep Lip Love

My new favorite lip addiction. I apply this every morning before leaving the house and at night before going to bed and it makes my lips so soft and plump. I usually have a lot of trouble finding the right lip products because they either dry up my lips or have a weird smell. I was pleasantly surprised by this Prep Lip Love by Urban Decay, it rapidly dissolves in my lips which makes it the perfect base for lipstick.

Ce nouveau baume à lèvres est ma nouvelle obsession. Je l'applique tous les matins avant de quitter la maison et la nuit avant d'aller au lit et mes lèvres deviennent si douces et pulpeuses. J'ai généralement beaucoup de mal à trouver des bons produits pour les lèvres parce qu'ils sèchent mes lèvres ou ont une odeur bizarre. J'ai été agréablement surprise par ce Prep Lip Love d'Urban Decay, il hydrate rapidement mes lèvres, ce qui en fait la base parfaite pour le rouge à lèvres.

5. COVERGIRL Vitalist Healthy Concealer

As I mentioned before, I do not wear foundation on a daily basis, very rarely actually. My goal in life is to never have to wear makeup to the exception of bronzer and mascara but these days, with the long work days my dark circles are living it up, which means concealer is much needed. Finding the right concealer can be a long adventure, your skin changes, your dark circles get darker. The new COVERGIRL Vitalist Healthy Concealer honestly is really doing the job for me, it hides my dark circles without looking cakey and does not break or crease during the day.

Comme je l'ai déjà mentionné, je ne porte pas de fond de teint tous les jours, très rarement en réalité. Mon but dans la vie est de ne jamais porter de maquillage à l'exception de la poudre bronzante et du mascara, mais ces jours-ci, avec les longues journées de travail, mes cercles noirs sont très apparents, ce qui signifie que l'anti-cernes est indispensable. Trouver le bon anti-cernes peut s'avérer être une longue aventure, notre peau change, vos cernes s'assombrissent. Le nouvel anti-cernes COVERGIRL Vitalist fait honnêtement vraiment le travail pour moi, il cache mes cernes sans avoir l'air gélatineux et ne se casse pas ou ne se ramasse pas sous mes yeux pendant la journée.

Under the sun

Every year, I find myself going to the Caribbean for a little trip and every year I tell myself that I need to discover other parts of the world but I always end up on a Caribbean island. I’m pretty sure my body is programmed to be under the sun and close to a beach. That being said, this year, it’s a very YOLO trip to Barbados that fulfilled my Caribbean needs ;) What do I mean by YOLO? Well, my sister and I hoped on a flight and off we went to go meet up my family for the long Easter weekend. I packed very last minute for this flight but one thing is for sure, my main priority is always my skin. When exposing myself to the sun, I always bring these essentials. They literally are in a separate cosmetic bag that I keep in my vanity at home and grab when I know I will be exposing my skin to rays. There are basically 3 things you need to keep in mind, protect your skin, hydrate your skin and moisturize your skin. 

Chaque année, je me retrouve sur un avion, direction: les Caraïbes pour un petit voyage. Chaque année, je me dis que je dois découvrir d'autres endroits dans le monde, mais,  je finis toujours sur une île dans les Caraïbes. Je suis persuadée que mon corps et mon cerveau sont programmés et s'arrangent pour être sous le soleil et à proximité d'une plage, au moins une fois par année. Cela étant dit, cette année, le voyage était très improviste, direction les Barbades. Voyage très improviste, car ma sœur et moi avons booké un vol et nous sommes allés rencontrer ma famille pour le long week-end de Pâques. Bien évidemment, j'ai fait ma valise à la dernière minute, mais une chose est sûre, ma priorité principale est toujours ma peau. Lorsque je sais que je serai exposée au soleil, je m'assure de toujours apporter mes produits indispensables. Ces derniers sont littéralement dans un sac cosmétique séparé que je garde dans ma vanité à la maison et que je ramasse dès que je sais que je vais exposer ma peau aux rayons. Il faut essentiellement garder à l'esprit 2 choses; protégez votre peau et hydratez votre peau,

All these 5 essentials allow me to always allow me to secure my skin. First off, I always rely on a strong SPF like this Vichy Idéal Soleil 50 because the Caribbean sun is the strongest and you do not want to burn. Secondly, I always always use a serum under my SPF and my ultimate product of life (not even kidding right now) is the Kiehl’s Hydro-Plumping Serum. I swear I’m not exaggerating when I say that this product goes with me everywhere. I apply it in the morning before my day cream, at night right before my night cream and throughout the day when I’m by the pool or the beach right before re-applying my SPF. Sadly, I’m running out and I’m dreading that last pump. Lastly, after-sun care is usually something people forget but it’s super important to moisturize your skin after sun exposure even if you don’t have sunburn, your skin needs that extra moisture. For this matter, I rely on two products: the LaRoche Posay Posthélios (that I’ve been using for years and years) and the Bioderma Photoderm Après-Soleil SOS, which soothes the skin instantly. We cannot forget the face, for this purpose I use the Bioderma Cicabio cream that will soothe and repair irritated skin. This certainly wasn’t my last trip to the Caribbean but we’ve got other cool plans for this year ;)

Ces 5 éléments essentiels me permettent de toujours protéger ma peau du soleil. Tout d'abord, je compte toujours sur une forte FPS comme celui de Vichy Idéal Soleil 50, car le soleil des Caraïbes est beaucoup plus fort. Deuxièmement, j'utilises toujours un sérum sous mon SPF et mon produit ultime de la vie (ce n'est même pas une blague) est le Kiehl's Sérum Concentré Hydro-Repulpant. Je vous promets que je n'exagère pas lorsque je vous dis que ce produit me suit partout. Je l'applique le matin avant ma crème de jour, le soir avant ma crème de nuit et je peux ré-appliquer oute la journée lorsque je suis près de la piscine ou à la plage juste avant de re-appliquer mon SPF. Malheureusement, je suis à court et je redoute le moment où je vais prendre la dernière pompe. Enfin, le soin après-soleil est généralement un soins qui est souvent négligé, mais, il est super important d'hydrater votre peau après l'exposition au soleil, même si vous ne souffrez pas de coups de soleil, votre peau a besoin d'humidité supplémentaire. Pour cette question, je compte sur deux produits: LaRoche Posay Posthélios (que j'utilises depuis des années et des années) et le Bioderma Photoderm Après-Soleil SOS, qui apaise la peau instantanément. Il ne faut pas oublier le visage et pour cela, j'utilise toujours le Bioderma Cicabio qui va venir aider la régénération des cellules d'une peau abîmée. Ce ne sera probablement pas mon dernier voyage dans les Caraïbes, mais nous avons d'autres plans très cool pour cette année;)

Skincare Simplicity

Sticking to simplicity and originals is the key to a good makeup look in my opinion. When I'm talking skincare or anything that will be applied to most of my face, I mainly resort to the same brands, because I trust them. For the summer, if I need to wear makeup, I stick to tinted moisturizer and BB creams. I'm currently rotating between these 3 amazing products. The newest from Vichy, the Idéalia BB cream has been my go-to for those breezy days . I have a tendency to oily skin and I strictly apply the BB cream to the areas where I need coverage but mega bonus is the SPF25. The Vichy Idéalia BB cream really offers a dewy finish to the skin. Secondly, for more of a matte finish and more control on my oily zones, the Caudalie Vinoperfect is my choice. And finally, my all-year-round fave is the Marcelle BB cream. The coverage on this product is really surprisingly amazing for my liking. Summer is definitely the moment where you can ditch your foundation and rock a more natural look. 

Selon moi, se pencher vers la simplicité et des produits classiques est la clé d'un super look très naturel. Dès que j'entame le sujet de produits pour le visage, je veux m'assurer de bien faire confiance aux produits que j'utilise. Pour la période de l'été, si je dois porter le maquillage, je m'en tiens à des BB crèmes et des crèmes teintées. Actuellement, j'alterne entre ces 3 produits. Le plus récent bébé de Vichy, la crème Idéalia BB qui est mon go-to pour les jours un peu plus venteux. J'ai une peau grasse et j'applique strictement la BB crème sur les zones que je veux camoufler et le méga bonus est le SPF25. La crème Vichy Idéalia BB offre vraiment une finition plus lustrée sur la peau. Deuxièmement, pour un fini mat et plus de contrôle sur mes zones huileuses, Caudalie Vinoperfect est mon premier choix. Et enfin, mon préf que j'utilise à l'année longue est la BB crème de chez Marcelle. Ce produit m'a grandement surpris, il assure une super bonne couverture des zones à cacher. L'été est certainement le moment où vous pouvez mettre votre fond de teint de côté et adopter un look plus naturel.

Get summer ready

1. Exfoliate your skin: I've been recently using this Caudalie Cabarney Scrub all over my body right before a good day under the sun and my skin feels so soft. An exfoliating scrub helps get rid of dead skin and prep your skin for the sun. 

2. Hydrate your hair: In the summer, I'm all about hair masks. I spend almost every weekend in the pool and I make sure to bring one while on vacation. The sun, the salt and the chlorine can really damage the hair. I tried the Shu Uemura Shusu Sleek hair mask last week at an event and my hair had never felt so tamed and soft. Make sure to treat your hair at least once a week during the summer to keep them healthy and shiny. 

3. Beachy Waves: More on hair. Nobody wants a very polished look during summer. It's all about the beach waves and the natural look. I have naturally curly hair but sometimes they are too curly and I need a little help to take it all down. The KISS InstaWave has a very unique system but it sure works on short hair and helps me create the beachy look. 

4. Bring out the brights and pastels: I always turn to Essie and the FormulaX by Sephora for my choice in nail polish colours. They both have an amazing variety of colours and they remain a long time on the nails. My summer choices : Bikini So Teeny by Essie and Potent by FormulaX Sephora.

5. It's gladiator time: Currently obsessed with all things boho and the gladiator sandal is no exclusion. I limited myself to one neutral color and this black option from the Gap. It's the second time I purchase shoes from the Gap and they are seriously comfy.

6. Prep your bikini body: Summer is the time to get that firm and soft skin. I've been applying the Vichy Ideal-Body Serum like water and I'm seeing a little difference on the texture of my skin.

1. Exfoliez votre peau: Depuis quelques jours, j'essaye le Gommage Crushed Cabarnet de Caudalie sur tout mon corps juste avant une exposition au soleil. Un produit exfoliant permet de bien nettoyer la peau et éliminer toute la peau morte. Une bonne préparation donne un meilleur bronzage.

2. Hydratez vos cheveux: En été, j'abuse de mes masques capillaires. Je passe presque chaque week-end dans la piscine et je m'assure toujours d'avoir mon masque capillaire avec moi en vacances. Le soleil, le sel et le chlore peuvent vraiment endommager les cheveux. J'ai essayé le masque capillaire Shu Uemura Shusu Sleek, la semaine dernière lors d'un événement et mes cheveux étaient tellement soyeux et bien bouclés. Assurez-vous de traiter vos cheveux au moins une fois par semaine pendant l'été pour les garder sains et brillants.

3. Beachy Waves: Parlons encore cheveux. Personne ne veut un look très polie pendant l'été. On veut toutes l'aspect naturel du look beachy waves. J'ai les cheveux naturellement assez bouclés et j'ai souvent besoin d'un petit coup de main pour maîtriser le look beachy waves. Le InstaWave KISS a un système unique et il fonctionne vraiment bien sur des cheveux courts. Il me permet de créer des boucles plus lousses, parfaites pour le look beachy. 

4. Sortez les pastels et les couleurs vives: Je me retourne toujours vers Essie et FormulaX by Sephora pour mes choix de couleurs de vernis à ongles. Les deux compagnies offrent de superbes choix et sont de bonnes qualités. Moi, un vernis qui dure deux jours, non merci! Mes choix pour l'été: Bikini So Teeny de Essie et Potent de FormulaX Sephora.

5. C'est le temps des sandales gladiateurs: Je suis présentement obsédée par tout ce qui est boho et les sandales gladiateurs en font parties. Je me suis limitée à deux paires cette saison, une de couleur neutre et cette paire de sandales en noir de chez Gap. C'est la deuxième fois que j'achète des souliers chez Gap et je suis très satisfaite. Super comfo et abordable.

6. Préparez votre corps pour le bikini: L'été c'est le temps de prendre soin de sa peau pour qu'elle devienne ferme et douce. J'utilise le Vichy Ideal-Body sérum comme de l'eau pour être certaine d'être prête pour la piscine et je vois déjà un petit changement dans la texture de ma peau.

Vichy Normaderm System

Skincare and skincare products are my happiness. Now, I can truly say that skincare trumps makeup in my book. I have lessened my makeup wearing tendencies and I really concentrate on the look and the feel of my skin. It's obvious that when we have certain stressful moments in our lives, the skin takes a toll and it's always good to keep the bad at bay whilst always remaining loyal to a good skincare routine.

A Vichy product has always been in my skincare lineup. I worked in a pharmacy for so long that these brands have always been part of my routine. This time, I tried the Vichy Normaderm system.

Vichy Normaderm is targeted towards acne-prone skin and oily skin. For my part, I do not have an acne-prone skin but nasty surprises can erupt at those special times of the month and I like to have a certain control. I used the Vichy Normaderm system (cleanser, toner and cream) for more than 2 months now and I can truly see a difference in the productivity of sebum by my skin. My skin is less oily at the end of a long day and my skin around my jaw (where I tend to breakout) feels more soft and less textured.

You can find really good dermatologist-recommended at the pharmacy and Vichy is sincerely a brand that needs to be tried at your next visit !
