Under the sun

Every year, I find myself going to the Caribbean for a little trip and every year I tell myself that I need to discover other parts of the world but I always end up on a Caribbean island. I’m pretty sure my body is programmed to be under the sun and close to a beach. That being said, this year, it’s a very YOLO trip to Barbados that fulfilled my Caribbean needs ;) What do I mean by YOLO? Well, my sister and I hoped on a flight and off we went to go meet up my family for the long Easter weekend. I packed very last minute for this flight but one thing is for sure, my main priority is always my skin. When exposing myself to the sun, I always bring these essentials. They literally are in a separate cosmetic bag that I keep in my vanity at home and grab when I know I will be exposing my skin to rays. There are basically 3 things you need to keep in mind, protect your skin, hydrate your skin and moisturize your skin.

All these 5 essentials allow me to always allow me to secure my skin. First off, I always rely on a strong SPF like this Vichy Idéal Soleil 50 because the Caribbean sun is the strongest and you do not want to burn. Secondly, I always always use a serum under my SPF and my ultimate product of life (not even kidding right now) is the Kiehl’s Hydro-Plumping Serum. I swear I’m not exaggerating when I say that this product goes with me everywhere. I apply it in the morning before my day cream, at night right before my night cream and throughout the day when I’m by the pool or the beach right before re-applying my SPF. Sadly, I’m running out and I’m dreading that last pump. Lastly, after-sun care is usually something people forget but it’s super important to moisturize your skin after sun exposure even if you don’t have sunburn, your skin needs that extra moisture. For this matter, I rely on two products: the LaRoche Posay Posthélios (that I’ve been using for years and years) and the Bioderma Photoderm Après-Soleil SOS, which soothes the skin instantly. We cannot forget the face, for this purpose I use the Bioderma Cicabio cream that will soothe and repair irritated skin. This certainly wasn’t my last trip to the Caribbean but we’ve got other cool plans for this year ;)

Winter is coming

Yes, I am making the classic Game of Thrones reference: 1- because I am truly obsessed with the show and I cannot wait until April 2016 and 2 - because as a Canadian, winter is really coming and we need to brace ourselves. For my part, when winter comes, I gear up with the boots, the knits and the skincare. Yes, your skin needs a little more TLC during winter because we go from strong heating to crazy cold. Don't forget, your skin is your armor and you need to keep it in good shape so it can fight the winter! I decided to share with you my current winter fighting gear.

A - Keep those lips hydrated
Current product of choice: Skinfix Lip Repair Balm
This must be my least favourite part of winter, dried and chapped lips. Make sure you hydrate your lips with a quality lip balm that will penetrate deeper and not exercice only a very superficial moisturizing feeling.

A - Gardez vos lèvres hydratées

B - Nourish your body
Current product of choice: Dans un Jardin Ziziphus caviar body cream
I must admit, I am not very good at applying body cream every day but I've recently made an effort and I've truly seen a difference in my skin and its thickness.

B - Nourrissez votre corps

C - Protect your hands
Current product of choice : Skinfix Ultra rich hand cream
Hands are my number problem. I wash my hands way too often and they really suffer in winter. I need a cream that I can apply in my car, at work while on the computer and at home before bed. And I found the one (no greasy residue included).

D - Stay alive
Current product of choice: Karine Joncas Dermo-lift corrective eyepatch
Winter = no sun = wanting to stay in bed at all times = puffy eyes
Need I say more? Every women should own eyepatches in her cabinet.

D - Restez vivante

E - Clean your skin
Current product of choice: Bioderma Hydrabio Micellar solution - Nothing beats the feeling of taking off all your makeup after a long day at war (with winter ;p). I've been using the Bioderma Micellar solution for years now but during winter, I switch it up and use the hydrating version just to add a little plump to the face.

E - Nettoyez votre visage

What your winter rituals?
Quels sont vos rituels en hiver?

Bioderma faves

I've been a long time Bioderma lover and year after year, I try to discover some of their new products to add to my skincare basket. My all time favourite Bioderma product is the Sensibio H2O Micelle Solution, only the best makeup remover out there. I have used it for years now and I always make sure to have a bottle on hand. Also, last year, I incorporated the Bioderma Cicabio repairing cream which saved my skin after a really bad skin reaction and it's always the #1 thing I pack when I leave for a sunny destination. My new additions are the Bioderma Photoderm moisturizing tanning spray and the new Bioderma Sensibio H2O wipes. I use the tanning solution on my legs after a good scrub and it gives such a nice halo, I swear my love for self tanning has grown so much since coming back from vacay. I just cannot loose the tan. The Bioderma wipes are my saviour, I told you the Micelle Solution was crazy, well just imagine wipes soaked with your favourite makeup remover, the lazy-girl's best friend.

*April Favorites*

May is already here, where did the time go by.......

I've decided to share with you my monthly favorites at the end of each month, consisting of beauty products, makeup, accessories and clothing items.
It's basically everything I was obsessed with within the month - something I used everyday and couldn't get enough of.

So for the month of April, my obsessions are mostly beauty products and makeup items.

From left to right :

1- Bioderma Sensibio H2O solution micellaire : I cannot rave enough about this product, I was never the kind of girl that would use a makeup remover, I would wipe my face with cleansing cloths and afterwards, wash my face with cleanser. But oh no ! This baby changed my routine completely, it was a makeup remover with a water-base, hence the fact that it looks exactly like water in the bottle. This product is made for sensitive skin, it does not sting your eyes (which is key for me !) and removes all sorts of smokey eyes. It did not break me out and it is alcohol-free, fragrance-free and parabens-free. Bioderma banked the big bucks with this product, it's been talked about all over the beauty community.

2- Effaclar K LaRochePosay : If you know me, you will know I am a sold LaRochePosay customer. I am one to think that if you want to change your skin routine, you need to grab something that is dermatologically tested and recommended by dermatologists. This product changed the texture of my skin, it is targeted for people with oily skin with imperfections and is described to correct and transform the skin's surface with a principle of micro-exfoliation. This blabber means that the ingredients present in this cream will exfoliate your skin throughout the day and remove all the excess sebum and dry skin that can cause little acne appearances.

3- Origins Zero Oil Deep Pore Cleanser : This brand is my new favorite discovery, they make a wide range of products that are all made with natural ingredients and are parabens free. This cleanser really reduced my shine and the appearance of my pores, I use it in conjunction with my Clarisonic Mia (review to come) and I really enjoy the effect it has on my skin. In general, this brand is a brand to look into, they make various products from serums to eye creams and are very well renowned for their natural ingredients policy.

4- NARS Laguna Bronzer : This bronzer is not matte, it has a bit of shine but the perfect shine to enhance your blush. I had bought this product back in october and had put it down for a while, but this month I took it out again and couldn't put it down. It gives a perfect bronzed glow without making you look like a disco ball.

5- Caudalie Beauty Elixir : I will  not start to blabber about this product, because it is my all time favorite discovery of life (review comming soon). I will only tell you that this product is worth trying, but first you should go check out the smell, because it has a distinctive smell which does not please everybody. I use this Beauty Elixir all the time, before makeup, after makeup as a setting spray, before bed, and throughout the day to freshen up.

6- Bobbi Brown corrector : I could not put this product down, I wanted to keep it only for days that I felt a train ran me over and my dark circles were very present, but I just can't. I just can't. Please check out the review here.

7- NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer : I use this product almost everyday and I've really enjoyed the glowy effect it gives my skin. I am very happy I made the decision to purchase the full size product. Check out the full review here.

8- Real Techniques Buffing Brush : I don't know where to start to explain that you do not need any other brush in your collection than these Real Techniques brushes, they beat MAC brushes by FAR and are sooooo affordable. This brush is the perfect tool for the tinted moisturizer/foundation/mineral powder type of girl. You truly do not know what you are msising. Check out the review here.

I know this post is a long one, but I really wanted to describe why I love these products, so you can get an idea of their benefits if you want to go and purchase them.

Enjoy the month of May !
