My love for Cream Shadows

When summer arrives, I usually reduce all makeup and resort to some minimal looks. In order to achieve these minimal looks, I have turned towards cream products. Now, it's time for me to share with you my love for the cream shadows. The perfect tool for the lazy girl that wants a put-together look without spending 20 minutes in front of the mirror.

Clockwise from Top : 1. Clinique Chubby Stick Tint for Eyes in Ample Amber & Fuller Fudge
2. Maybelline Color Tattoo in Bad to the Bronze
3. Benefit Creaseless CreamShadow in My Two Cents
4. Chanel Illusion d'Ombre in Émerveillé

I jumped on the Clinique Chubby Stick bandwagon because of none other that ViviannaDoesMakeup from Youtube. She loves the natural look and so do I. These Chubby Sticks are the easiest and retail for a fair price. Slap them on, blend with a brush or your fingers and you are out the door. The two colors I chose (Ampler Amber & Fuller Fudge) make for great day looks and night looks. You could just apply Clinique Chubby Stick Ample Amber during the day and add Fuller Fudge in the crease for a night look. The consistency of these is super smooth and they don't crease.

The infamous Maybelline Color Tattoo in Bad to the Bronze is the drugstore version of Cream Shadows and he definitely fills up to its reputation. Maybelline outdid themselves with these Color Tattoo's, they apply like a dream, do not crease and they create a beautiful eye. I apply the Maybelline Color Tattoo in Bad to the Bronze with my fingers and blend it with a MAC 217 brush and I am out the door. Excellent consistency, amazing staying power and crazy price !

I had never dived in the world of Benefit and a couple of months ago I did and I love it. Benefit's Creaseless Cream Shadow in My Two Cents seriously makes for the perfect simple eye look and does not budge. I apply this with my fingers and add MAC Soft Brown in the crease and my eye look is done and looks super soft and put-together. I absolutely adore the consistency of these Benefit Creaseless Shadows and I will definitely be looking at more colors next time I'm in Sephora or Shopper's DrugMart. They are worth the look.

Finally, of course I had to include some Chanel. Chanel's Illusion D'ombre in Émerveillé is one that I got because of the hype. I must admit, I am really scared of it drying up since it happens to everyone, but I still love it. All in all, Chanel's Illusion D'Ombre is a good product but is definitely creaseless, you must apply a primer before. I use this product as a base and I add different eyeshadows before. I don't know if it's really a must in your makeup collection, but I believe the color is really unique and I haven't found a similar color in a Drugstore brand or a cheaper brand.

So here is my take on Cream EyeShadows, they are a faster and easier choice for the summer and they create a beautiful eye in less than 5 minutes. A definite must for this summer !

Enjoy !

  1. Great picks! I loved that you include a mix of drugstore and high-end.

I also find myself reaching for more cream eyeshadows for summer! (as well as cream bronzers!)

I didn't realise Clinique made their Chubby Sticks for eyeshadows... I thought it was lip colour only haha! But I gotta try some Benefit cream eyeshadows now that you mention it!

& I've seen the Chanel one in person - that peachy gold colour is STUNNING! xx
