Get summer ready

1. Exfoliate your skin: I've been recently using this Caudalie Cabarney Scrub all over my body right before a good day under the sun and my skin feels so soft. An exfoliating scrub helps get rid of dead skin and prep your skin for the sun. 

2. Hydrate your hair: In the summer, I'm all about hair masks. I spend almost every weekend in the pool and I make sure to bring one while on vacation. The sun, the salt and the chlorine can really damage the hair. I tried the Shu Uemura Shusu Sleek hair mask last week at an event and my hair had never felt so tamed and soft. Make sure to treat your hair at least once a week during the summer to keep them healthy and shiny. 

3. Beachy Waves: More on hair. Nobody wants a very polished look during summer. It's all about the beach waves and the natural look. I have naturally curly hair but sometimes they are too curly and I need a little help to take it all down. The KISS InstaWave has a very unique system but it sure works on short hair and helps me create the beachy look. 

4. Bring out the brights and pastels: I always turn to Essie and the FormulaX by Sephora for my choice in nail polish colours. They both have an amazing variety of colours and they remain a long time on the nails. My summer choices : Bikini So Teeny by Essie and Potent by FormulaX Sephora.

5. It's gladiator time: Currently obsessed with all things boho and the gladiator sandal is no exclusion. I limited myself to one neutral color and this black option from the Gap. It's the second time I purchase shoes from the Gap and they are seriously comfy.

6. Prep your bikini body: Summer is the time to get that firm and soft skin. I've been applying the Vichy Ideal-Body Serum like water and I'm seeing a little difference on the texture of my skin.

1. Exfoliez votre peau: Depuis quelques jours, j'essaye le Gommage Crushed Cabarnet de Caudalie sur tout mon corps juste avant une exposition au soleil. Un produit exfoliant permet de bien nettoyer la peau et éliminer toute la peau morte. Une bonne préparation donne un meilleur bronzage.

2. Hydratez vos cheveux: En été, j'abuse de mes masques capillaires. Je passe presque chaque week-end dans la piscine et je m'assure toujours d'avoir mon masque capillaire avec moi en vacances. Le soleil, le sel et le chlore peuvent vraiment endommager les cheveux. J'ai essayé le masque capillaire Shu Uemura Shusu Sleek, la semaine dernière lors d'un événement et mes cheveux étaient tellement soyeux et bien bouclés. Assurez-vous de traiter vos cheveux au moins une fois par semaine pendant l'été pour les garder sains et brillants.

3. Beachy Waves: Parlons encore cheveux. Personne ne veut un look très polie pendant l'été. On veut toutes l'aspect naturel du look beachy waves. J'ai les cheveux naturellement assez bouclés et j'ai souvent besoin d'un petit coup de main pour maîtriser le look beachy waves. Le InstaWave KISS a un système unique et il fonctionne vraiment bien sur des cheveux courts. Il me permet de créer des boucles plus lousses, parfaites pour le look beachy. 

4. Sortez les pastels et les couleurs vives: Je me retourne toujours vers Essie et FormulaX by Sephora pour mes choix de couleurs de vernis à ongles. 5. C'est le temps des sandales gladiateurs: Je suis présentement obsédée par tout ce qui est boho et les sandales gladiateurs en font parties. Je me suis limitée à deux paires cette saison, une de couleur neutre et cette paire de sandales en noir de chez Gap. C'est la deuxième fois que j'achète des souliers chez Gap et je suis très satisfaite. Super comfo et abordable.

6. Préparez votre corps pour le bikini: L'été c'est le temps de prendre soin de sa peau pour qu'elle devienne ferme et douce. J'utilise le Vichy Ideal-Body sérum comme de l'eau pour être certaine d'être prête pour la piscine et je vois déjà un petit changement dans la texture de ma peau.

The mask effect

Last week, while being on Skype with my brother-in-law, he asked me the difference between all the masks I use and when do I know I need them. Fast forward a couple of days later and I decided maybe you would want to know too. I think masks are one of my all-time-fave skincare products. Once applied, I make sure to relax and unwind. I always vary between a couple of masks but they can all be classified in 3 categories for different uses.

1. The hydrating mask - The Body Shop Drops of Youth Bouncy sleeping mask: I apply this mask at night, after cleaning my face and applying my serum. I use it sort of like my nighttime moisturizer, I will apply it and keep it on all night. In the morning, when I wake up, my skin feels so plump, clear and moisturized.

2. The clay mask - Kiehl's cleansing clay mask: When my skin feels oily and I'm having a crazy breakout, this is the time to take out the clay. The clay will eliminate the sebum and diminish your blemishes.

3. The exfoliation mask - Peter Thomas Roth Pumpkin enzyme mask: This mask completely changed my routine and the texture of my skin. I use this mask when my skin is at it's worst,

I'm showing you three different types of masks for each category but keep in mind that you can find so many other options at Sephora. I always apply a mask on Sunday, as a relaxing ritual and in the middle of the week. It's the perfect way to unwind and take time for yourself. What are you faves face masks?

La semaine dernière j'étais entrain de Skype avec mon beau-frère et j'avais un masque sur le visage. Il m'a demandé qu'elle était la différence entre tous les masques que j'utilise et à quel moment je les utilise. Quelques jours plus tard, je me suis dit que si lui avait des questions, peut-être que certaines et certains d'entre vous en aurait aussi. Alors, voici un petit blitz sur les différents types de masques. Je crois que les masques sont vraiment le produit que je préfère acheter en terme de beauté. Une fois que j'applique un masque, c'est automatiquement un moment de détente pour moi. J'adore varier mes masques et selon moi, je crois qu'on peut les classer en 3 catégories. 

1. Le masque hydratant - The Body Shop Drops of Youth Bouncy masque de nuit: J'applique ce masque le soir, après avoir nettoyé mon visage et après avoir appliqué mon sérum de nuit. Au fond, ce masque agit comme ma crème de soir. Je l'applique et je le garde toute la nuit. Le matin, à mon réveil, mon visage est super hydraté et riche. C'est un peu comme si mon visage avait bu 2 litres d'eau.

2. Le masque à l'argile - Kiehl's masque désincrustant à l'argile: Dès que je sens que mon visage a un excès de sébum et que j'ai une petite visite des amis les boutons, j'applique ce masque à la tonne. L'argile va éliminer l'excès de sébum et apaiser l'acné active.

3. Le masque exfoliant - Peter Thomas Roth Pumpkin enzyme mask: Ce masque a complètement changé ma routine beauté et la texture de ma peau. J'utilise vraiment ce masque lorsque mon visage est à son point le plus bas et que je dois sauver ma peau. 

Je vous parle de trois masques différents, par contre, gardez en tête qu'il existe une multitude de différents masques pour le visage dans chacune de ces catégories et vous pouvez en trouver plein chez Sephora. J'applique toujours mes masques le dimanche et au milieu de ma semaine, comme un soin et je prends bien le temps de me relaxer. C'est le moyen idéal pour décrocher et prendre du temps pour soi. Current face ritual

As I've mentioned many times before, I do not wear makeup everyday. Actually, rare are the days that I do but recently when I do, I rely on 3 products only. Since my trip back from Jamaïca, not gonna lie, but it's been hell matching my new tan to my concealers or my foundations. The La Roche Posay Effaclar BB Blur has been my best of friends. This product blurred every line of your face and hides every blemish or spot. The coverage of the La Roche Posay Effaclar BB Blur is simply perfect for my lifestyle, I like to hide but to keep it natural. Nobody will believe you have flawless skin even if you hide it and cake it up. Furthermore, my concealer of choice since January has been the Maybelline Master Conceal. You won't believe it but on my amazing skin days, I only use this under my eyes and to cover redness and I'm out the door. I absolutely adore this product and I actually went and got a darker shade so I can mix it up and adapt to my tan. Finally, my new discovery, the best as of yet, the Sephora Bronze Perfect CC Cream. Basically, you add a drop of this product to any foundation or BB cream that is too light for you and you end up with the perfect shade for your skin tone. A magic trick! This product has saved me so much money and now, I can easily adapt my winter foundations to my summer tan. 

Tel que je l'ai mentionné à maintes reprises, je ne porte pas de maquillage tous les jours. En fait, rares sont les jours que j'en porte, mais récemment, quand je décide de porter du maquillage, je me retourne vers seulement trois produits. Depuis mon retour de voyage de de Jamaïque, je ne vais pas vous mentir, mais ça a été l'enfer trouver des fonds de teint ou des caches-cernes qui correspondent à mon bronzage. Le Effaclar BB Crème de La Roche Posay est présentement mon meilleur ami. Ce produit rend floue chaque ligne de votre visage et masque toutes tâches ou irrégularités. La couvrance que l'Effaclar BB Crème de la La Roche Posay offre, est tout simplement parfait pour mon style de vie, j'aime cacher, mais toujours en restant naturelle. Personne ne croira que vous avez une peau parfaite, même si vous le cacher et que vous en empilez. En outre, mon correcteur de choix depuis le mois de janvier a été le Master Conceal de Maybelline. Vous n'en croirez pas vos yeux, mais lors de mes journées où ma peau est impécable, j'utilise le Master Conceal sous mes yeux, pour couvrir les rougeurs et je suis dans l'auto. Je raffole de ce produit, au point où je suis allée en acheter un deuxième produit avec une teinte plus foncée pour le mélanger et l'adapter à mon bronzage. Enfin, ma nouvelle découverte, la meilleure du moment, la Crème CC hâle parfait de chez Sephora. C'est simple, vous ajoutez une goutte de ce produit à tout fond de teint ou BB crème qui est trop pâle pour votre couleur de peau et vous vous retrouvez avec la nuance parfaite de fond de teint. Un tour de magie! Ce produit m'a sauvé tant d'argent et maintenant, je peux facilement adapter mes fonds de teint d'hiver à mon bronzage d'été.

Urban Decay Setting Sprays

Not many people are aware of the existence of setting sprays, but these babies are magical, they help keep your makeup intact until the end of your day. At first, I thought it was a scam, just like any other new ''IT'' product in the makeup industry. What made me very doubtful is the fact that I had tried the MAC version, months back, which is a setting spray called Fix+. This spray did not do anything for my skin, yes it hydrates your skin and gives a nice mist of minerals but it did not set my makeup in place all day. Point, blank, period. Very disappointed.

A couple of months later, I discovered that the makeup brand Urban Decay had associated themselves with Skindinavia, which is a company known for being ''the pioneers of makeup finishing spray''. They created 2 setting sprays : De Slick and All Nighter.

 

At Sephora, they sell the mini-versions of these two sprays, which gave me the opportunity to try them both. At first, I tried the All Nighter Setting Spray and I instantly fell in love, my makeup would stay intact even after a night out in a club. I grew a habit of spraying it everyday and finished the small bottle after a couple of weeks. I then decided to try the De Slick version, since I have a skin with oily tendencies, but I was disappointed.

 

Even though this spray claims to control the oil and absorb excess sebum, I did not see a difference in my skin. The oil was still present and the makeup did not look as flawless at the end of a long day.

I instantly went back to the Urban Decay All Nighter spray and haven't gone without ever since.
