How to wear a dress over pants

I will be honest it took me a couple of tries to get this combination right. In my opinion, wearing a dress over pants can go wrong very quickly. You need the right duo and when you find it, trust me, you will be obsessed. There are 2 main points in nailing this look. Firstly, you need to find a dress that has a looser fit and that does not hug you around the hips, why? Well, because you pull on those jeans or pants, you do not want it to make you look bigger. Secondly, this look needs to be worn with a bit of a heel. I am a tall girl and I can maybe pull-it off with sneakers but adding that height will really elongate your legs and make you look slimmer. Try out these tricks and let me know how you like combining dresses over pants!

Je vais être honnête avec vous, il m'a fallu quelques essais pour obtenir la bonne combinaison. À mon avis, porter une robe sur un pantalon peut être assez difficile à porter. Il faut vraiment trouver le bon duo et quand vous allez le trouver, croyez-moi, vous serez obsédée. Il y a 2 points très important pour bien adopter ce look. Tout d'abord, vous devez trouver une robe qui a une coupe un peu plus lousse et qui ne repose pas sur vos hanches, pourquoi? Car, une fois que vous allez enfiler vos pantalons, vous ne voulez pas que la robe s'accroche sur vos jeans et donne un look trop ample sur cette région. Deuxièmement, ce look doit être porté avec un peu d'élévation. Je suis une fille assez grande et je pourrais peut-être porter ce look avec des espadrilles, mais en ajoutant un peu d'hauteur, vous venez vraiment allonger vos jambes et vous faire paraître plus élancée. Essayez ces astuces et laissez-moi savoir comment vous aimez combiner une robe sur un pantalon!

Such khaki

It may seem like my love for color only limits itself to grey, black and white but I also have a special place for neutrals, especially khaki. In my opinion, khaki is a color that suits a lot of skin tones and is very easy to match. A lot of people seem intimidated by khaki but it can easily be mixed and matched with other neutrals or monochrome colours. However, for this look, I was really going for the one color fits all option, as it's the easiest way to leave the house in the morning. I remember in high school, I found it weird to dress in the same colour from head to toe. Well, today, I'm the biggest believer of monochrome outfits !

Selon mes récentes tendances, on pourrait dire que les couleurs de mon garde-robe se limitent beaucoup au gris, noir et blanc, mais c'est faux ! Je réserve toujours une petite place spécial pour les couleurs neutres, spécialement le khaki. Selon moi, le khaki est une couleur qui convient à plusieurs plusieurs tons de peau et elle s'assortit très facilement dans un look. Beaucoup de gens semblent intimidés par la couleur khaki, mais elle peut facilement être mélangée et combinée avec d'autres couleurs neutres ou mes trois mousquetaires préfs (noir, gris, blanc). Par contre, pour ce look, j'ai vraiment opté pour le look total en khaki, car je ne vais pas vous le cacher, mais c'est la façon la plus rapide de quitter la maison. En écrivant cet article, j'ai eu un petit flashback. Au secondaire, je me souviens qu'on trouvais cela super bizarre de s'habiller de la même couleur de la tête aux pieds et bien aujourd'hui, je suis la plus grande fan des tenues monochromes!

That Leather though !

It's all about the leather, always and it was no exception for New York Fashion Week. After participating at a couple of seasons at NYFW, you seriously realize you just want to be comfortable but still look on point. For my second outfit, I decided to rock the preppy chic with a leather twist. A crisp white shirt, this one being oversized (even better ;p) with a leather jacket is just the perfect combination. My current leather jacket crush is this ridiculously gorgeous forest green piece from Joe Fresh, I seriously wore it so much this past fall, I just love that it's not black. Add leather pants, the perfect Mackage satchel and sneakers and I'm comfy!

C'est toujours à propos du look en cuir, en tout temps et ceci n'a pas fait exception pour La Semaine de la Mode à New York. Après avoir participer à quelques saisons au NYFW, on se rend compte rapidement que le confort est vraiment la clé, on veut juste être à l'aise, mais encore être à notre meilleur. Pour ma seconde tenue, j'ai décidé le preppy chic avec une touche de cuir. Une chemise blanche, celle-ci étant "oversized" (encore mieux ;p) avec une veste en cuir est simplement la combinaison parfaite. Mon coup de foudre actuel est cette veste en cuir de Joe Fresh, de couleur vert forêt. J'ai sérieusement tellement porté cette veste l'automne dernier, j'adore le fait que ce n'est pas du cuir noir. Ajouter un pantalon en cuir, le sac Mackage en bandoulière parfait et des baskets et je suis confortable!

Grey Game Strong: NYFW Outfit #1

Once again, New York Fashion Week came along with all it's craziness. This year, we made it a short but crazy trip. Yes, I say WE, because Mister the photographer/boyfriend was also getting some NYFW invites. For the first day of Fashion Week, I decided to bust out my current obsession : grey. The weather was totally Canadian style, crazy cold and so much wind but I had so many layers, I was covered with my monotone look ;) I love putting together an amazing outfit at such an affordable price and spice it up with the perfect bag. For this grey-on-grey outfit, I opted for the amazing Mackage JORI in black leather. I wanted bag that could act as a satchel so I can be comfy and hands-free but yet stylish and that I could also wear as a clutch and the Mackage JORI was the perfect fit. This bag had so much space, I had my wallet, business cards, my camera, some lipstick and I had so much more space left, Mackage sure know their bag game;p

Une fois de plus, la Semaine de la Mode de New York est arrivée à grand pas et ce, avec toute sa folie. Cette année, nous avons opté pour un voyage court mais fou. Oui, je dis NOUS, parce que Monsieur le photographe/amoureux avait également reçu quelques invitations. Pour le premier jour de la Semaine de la Mode, j'ai décidé de suivre mon obsession actuelle: le gris. La température était totalement influence-canadienne, un froid de fou et tellement de vent, mais je portais tant de couches de vêtements que j'étais correcte avec mon look monotone ;) J'aime mettre ensemble une tenue incroyable à un prix très abordable et l'agrémenter avec le sac parfait. Pour cette tenue gris sur gris, j'ai opté pour le sac Mackage JORI en cuir noir. Je voulais un sac qui pouvait être tenue en bandoulière pour que je puisse être à l'aise et les mains-libre, mais encore élégant et que je pouvais aussi porter à la main et le Mackage JORI fût le choix parfait. Ce sac avait tellement d'espace, j'avais avec moi, mon portefeuille, des cartes professionnelles, mon appareil photo, un rouge à lèvres et il restait encore beaucoup d'espace, Mackage connaît bien la game de la sacoche ;p

Hi everyone ! I'm so happy to be back to a regular blogging schedule. I will try my best to publish something every day of the week for you guys. I am back to school and this time, I'm once again the student. Going back to finish my Masters and maybe considering a PhD in the near future. Education is a subject that really interest me and I truly want to try to make a difference. This semester, for now, I will not be teaching as the registrations decreased, so I'm focusing on University and my blog. 

Back to the fashion world. Last month, I had the pleasure of having a private tour of the Mackage showroom and let me tell you, I saw some beautiful things. I've put together for you the best of the best of the Spring Summer 2015 pieces from Mackage. I fell in love with the women's collection and the boyfriend basically tried on every piece of the men's collection. As you can see, color is of the essence in this collection and you know that color is definitely my cup of tea, my signature. I also feel like, structure is a Mackage signature. Each piece is carefully crafted and structured and falls really well on the body. I completely fell head over heels for the gorgeous Mackage Rubie handbag.

Every year, a special event in help at the Marché Bonsecours in the Old Port of Montreal where Quebec Designers gather up to display their amazing fashion pieces and sell them at a discounted price for La Braderie de Mode Québécoise.
