Brand Focus : Urban Decay

You will most probably say that I live under a rock but I have only tried one product from the Urban Decay line in the past and I was loving it but I just never thought of taking the plunge again, until now. Last month, I got my hands on the so-talked-about Urban Decay Naked Basics 2 palette and the new Urban Decay Naked Skin concealer. I heard so many good reviews on both these products, so I knew I had to test them out myself to create my own opinion. First, the Urban Decay Naked Basics 2 palette is exactly what I expected, matte shadows that blend really well on the lids. I must say, these eyeshadows create a lot of fallout in the tin and on the brush but nothing on my face while I applied. The colours interlock really well together and I find it to be a perfect travelling palette, you get light colours when you feel for a more natural look, medium browns to create the perfect crease colour and my fave, the underdog, the dark brown to create a very think liner very close to the lash line. The Urban Decay Naked Basics 2 palette retails for 34$. A good deal in my opinion!

Let's finish with my current crush, the Urban Decay Naked Skin concealer (retails for 34$) . My number one problem with concealers, creasing in my fine lines, yes I'm getting older :( I was so surprised by this concealer, I only needed so little and it really hid my dark circles. It's the creamiest formula but without being too thick. This colours if now too light for me but I think I will go and buy a shade darker, so I could use it this summer as my only base product. I'll apply it to my problem spots, add bronzer and mascara and done. No foundation needed, the season is over, yes please !

What are you favourite Urban Decay products?

This Week's Most Loved...

Spring is here and it's time for a change !

Last week, I decided to take a break from putting any liquid on my face, such as foundation or tinted moisturizer, so I rummaged through my hoard of makeup and I found an old great love the Laura Mercier Mineral Powder.
I love this powder, it does not five a full coverage but it creates such a wonderful glow on your face without being shiny, which is not ideal for someone with an oily T-Zone.
All week I wore this powder and my skin never felt better, I found it very appropriate to wear with the wonderful weather we got.

To add a little more oomph, I decided to try a Bronzer that I had kept in my drawer for so long. Last year, I got a kit from Sephora containing a mini Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush and a mini version of the Tarte Park Avenue Princess Bronzer. This Bronzer is exactly what I needed for a nice pick-me-up. Beware, it has a little shine to it, it is not a matte bronzer, but that's specifically what I wanted, something to brighten up my face and add a nice glow.

To tie everything up, I have been obsessed with matte eyeshadows. I have always been the type of girl that leans toward nice warm shimmery brown-toned eyeshadows, but this month and specifically this week, I have been recreating the same eye look over and over again with matte brown shades.
This eye look is the easiest you can find, it consists of two eyeshadows from the Urban Decay Naked Palette : Naked and Buck.

I start by applying the color Naked all over the lid with a MAC 217 brush or you can use any blending eye brush. Then, I take Buck and apply it on the crease with the same brush, you can play with the intensity of the crease with adding more of the Buck color. Then, I usually add either a brown or black winged liner to tie up the look and off I go !

These were the products I used all week and I think I am gonna keep up this little trio for the following week as well. Let me know which products you have been loving this week.

Also, if you have any suggestions for nice matte eyeshadows please keep me posted, I am on the hunt !

Enjoy !
